Never again. There were 11 of us split between two houses, one for five people and one for six, and the six-person place was absurdly cramped. The double bedroom and the twin room were so narrow that our legs bumped together when we tried to sleep. There was barely room in the closet to open its door, and the two-person sofa bed was in the kitchen below. With the air conditioning blowing, we couldn't cook without keeping our daughters awake in the kitchen. No mosquito nets, and we felt shut in. The washing machine didn't work, the cookware wasn't suitable, and there were no comforts. A terrible way to finish a holiday.

We were impressed by how nicely restored the residence is. Our apartment was clean, well finished, comfortably furnished, and very welcoming, and the staff were attentive and gave us a great reception. We had a very pleasant stay. From the terraces, there are lovely views over the wide Marina di Donnalucata.

The top-floor apartment had a huge terrace where we could eat outside and enjoy the view. Donnalucata beach was lovely too, with clear water that was perfect for long, calm swims. A few minutes from the shore, we found a fish market selling the day's catch at surprisingly affordable prices. The staff were extremely kind and always available, and the home is a great fit for couples or families with kids, just a short walk from the sea. A really relaxing holiday, highly recommended.

The terrace at the apartment was comfortable for meals or grilling, and the sunsets were beautiful. The place itself was as described and truly wonderful. The cleaning staff were very friendly, as were people in Donnalucata and the surrounding area. Getting to nearby towns such as Ragusa Ibla and Marina di Ragusa is difficult without transport links. That's a shortcoming, though one that really lies with the government.

The staff were very kind, which is why I'm giving three stars. The apartment was clean and newly furnished, but the balcony gets full sun all day and has no shade, so it wasn't usable during the day. The cookware also needs replacing, the pots and pans were either too small or too large. I was promised a sea view, but there was only a glimpse from a corner where you couldn't sit, and the main view was of garbage. After paying €1,400 for two weeks, they also wanted €10 for electricity before we left. Poor people, I say. Sadly, I'll change agencies another year.
