Mareantico Shabby Apartment

We loved the warm feel and comfortable interiors at Mareantico Shabby Apartment. With the sea only a few steps away, it made for a wonderful holiday. Five stars from us, and we hope to return soon.

The house is just off the busy seafront, yet only a few steps from the beach. The first thing you notice outside is the sound of the waves and the lovely sea air. On Via Carignano, its white and blue doors mark a former fisherman's cottage. Inside, Mareantico Shabby feels like a real piece of Sicily, full of hospitality, care, and a beautiful smile that was still hidden behind a mask. Fiammetta and her father have clearly put a lot of love into the house and their work, so I’d ask future guests to look after it while they’re there. Fiammetta is a wonderful host, attentive to what guests need and keen to share the famed Sicilian hospitality. The price is another reason to consider it, especially when so many rents have gone up during the pandemic. Her honesty deserves to be rewarded. We found this place this year, and it stood out from the other homes we saw in town. Its young, lively decor makes it bright, fresh, colorful, welcoming, comfortable, and practical, while other homes we saw had older furnishings that felt neglected. It really is the best holiday rental in Sampieri. After a day out, coming back to Fiammetta’s comfortable apartment is a treat. Sampieri has refreshing sea swims, barefoot walks on the beach, bike rides along the seaside path, and good food and typical Sicilian dishes at the bars, kiosks, and restaurants along the waterfront. Nearby historic Scicli and Modica offer Baroque architecture and Inspector Montalbano film locations. After all that history and blue, it feels great to return home. The sea breeze reminded me of beaches in Kenya and Mexico. We’ll definitely be back, and I recommend this holiday home to everyone.

Our week at Mareantico Shabby Apartment was fantastic, with Sampieri beach just a few steps away. It was a lovely place to recharge after seeing Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Scicli, and Marzamemi, as well as Cala Mosche, Vendicari, San Lorenzo, Isola delle Correnti, Donnalucata, and Punta Secca. We also made it to the Valley of the Temples and Scala dei Turchi. The picture is of Sampieri beach. WONDERFUL HOLIDAY

For two weeks, we were able to relax in this lovely, cool, well-kept house, just a few meters from the sea in the oldest part of Sampieri. It worked perfectly for our family of four. We could enjoy the sea and the quiet, while also visiting the wonderful towns and sights in this part of Sicily. We had a great time and would gladly come back.
