La Villetta B&B

The bathroom was the worst part. The shower was concrete, the shower head wouldn’t come off, and there were pencil shavings in the sink. The room was filthy too, with leaves and cobwebs all over the floor, and it was freezing when we arrived for the New Year’s holiday. We had a small child with us. When we told the owner, he said it was a B&B, not a hotel, and offered only €10 off the final bill. I gave it one star because zero wasn’t an option. We won’t be back, and I’d steer people toward the better B&Bs nearby.

On our August 21 return, there was nobody waiting for us, so we had to ask the owner which room to use. He assigned us CERCHI. It was damp, smelled strongly of mold, and the old spring mattress and stained sheets made it worse. I called straight away to ask for another room because the humidity made it hard to breathe, but the owner said no. I then asked for a small refund and got no help. Booking.com support opened a report and asked me to take photos. We eventually got €12.40 back through them, packed up, and left for better accommodation at the same price. The owner also refused our request for free cancellation. This was our second booking, after staying on August 10th. That first arrival was difficult too: we couldn’t reach the owner to get the keys or open the room, and there was no one to greet us. We asked neighbors down the street how to contact him, since he was practically nowhere to be found. The area had no supermarkets and hardly anywhere to eat. The only pizzeria and roast chicken place were closed, so we went to nearby Marigliano for a good 13-pizza pizza. Check the reviews and photos carefully before booking. If things go wrong, you may not get the full amount back and could have to pay again for another room. Booking.com doesn’t protect consumers or check the rooms that managers rent out. AND THIS WAS THE BEST PART!!!! NOW THE WORST IS COMING!!!

For a one-night stop, it’s quiet and set among greenery, with enough comfort and generally decent cleanliness. I noticed a little dust on the curtains. The main problem is the shower tray, a warped sort of linoleum that leaves water pooled instead of draining. That could use fixing, but otherwise it’s OK.

We’ve stayed at this B&B twice, and the SUITE was such a letdown that I wanted to share what we found, even though the owner was very kind. There’s a noisy drinks dispenser by the entrance, which makes sleeping difficult unless you’re completely exhausted. The room used to be a living room with a fireplace. It had a double bed, cot, and camp bed lined up with little space to move around. The old bed bases creaked, and the pillows were worn and too flat. In the bathroom, the shower head was covered in limescale and sprayed water onto the ceiling. The drain had no filter, and some tiles were broken. Upstairs, where the other rooms are, we’d stayed in the very well-kept White Room. There was a small table with packaged croissants and a vending machine, but barely room for breakfast, so we had to eat in the room on the bed. It’s a real shame. I hope they redesign the suite, since its name sets expectations pretty high.
