The place and its breathtaking setting were wonderful, and the food was truly excellent. Mr. Antonio’s kindness and helpfulness made our two fantastic days even better. You can’t take that sort of thoughtfulness for granted these days. We’ll definitely return. Thank you!

A relaxing weekend at Tenuta Fortunato, and absolutely worth the stay. Antonio, the owner, was so kind and helpful. The food was excellent, made with traditional home-grown produce. Thanks, Tenuta Fortunato, from Lecce.

The farm animals came over every morning, watching us curiously and waiting for attention. Antonio, the agriturismo manager, and Godpower, who looks after the property, were friendly and attentive. They could point us toward local festivals and itineraries to explore day by day. We’d wanted to get away from the August crowds and packed beaches, and found ourselves on a promontory above Lake Monte Cotugno. The room’s terrace had a picturesque view, especially at sunrise and sunset. Breakfast was typical for a local B&B, and when we asked, they let us try local products, including a savory option.

The food was delicious and felt authentic, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Set among Senise’s green hills, Tenuta Fortunato is a peaceful place. We stayed for one night, and the rooms could use a bit more maintenance, though the atmosphere was welcoming. The educational farm is a nice extra for children, who can get close to horses, sheep, and donkeys. The farm also produces the famous crusco pepper, a local delicacy. A good choice for a relaxing break in nature.

Antonio welcomed us warmly and was both our guide to the area and our culinary guide. We ate wonderfully: a homemade breakfast and a zero-mile dinner with peperone crusco, all excellent and served with love. Antonio and the rest of the staff were more than hospitable and helpful. We spent very little and saw beautiful places. We stayed at the estate on the first weekend in May. It’s easy to reach, even on a motorcycle, since the last steep, narrow stretch of road has been paved. The lake and dam views are splendid. Our furry companions were welcome everywhere with us, including at breakfast and dinner. The simple but functional rooms made for a truly relaxing stay. It’s child-friendly too, with farm animals you can see and get close to: a donkey, a couple of goats, a horse, and chickens. Recommended if you enjoy the countryside, good wine, and typical local food at a reasonable price.
