We paid 100€ a night, which felt like very poor value. The hotel needs restoration: it's dark, old, and crowded with years' worth of odd things. Breakfast became memorable for all the wrong reasons. The Italian-style spread of dried bread and cakes was packed with preservatives, but what really got us was arriving to a pitch-black breakfast room. We couldn't get the lights on, so we used a torch and pieced together a very ordinary snack. Tea drinkers got a tiny thermos of hot water that had been left out overnight, and it was almost cold by morning. The place was deserted and locked when we arrived. Luckily, a workman who seemed to be doing renovations had a phone number and called the owner, who eventually came to take our booking. If you're on foot walking the Via Francigena, this is pretty much the only place in Sessa Arunca, so there isn't much choice.

We had a lovely dinner at a table by the pool, with excellent food and service. It's hard to imagine such a beautiful place existing in Sessa Aurunca.
