Abacus Hotel

Gianfranco in the restaurant really made my business trip memorable. He was the only staff member I interacted with, and he was kind, attentive, always smiling, and quick to help. I felt welcome every day. The restaurant food was delicious at every meal, too. The hotel was clean, spacious, and peaceful, and its location worked perfectly for me. I'd gladly come back. Thanks again to Gianfranco for the hospitality.

The pool was nice for cooling off, and the private park outside was great for the kids. The hotel and rooms are lovely, and it's perfectly placed for getting into central Milan. Our stay was unfortunately spoiled by the rude man at reception. He was arrogant at check-in, and I felt we were overcharged for pool towels. We were told they cost 2 euros each to rent and that we'd get the money back afterward. We took 5 towels, but never got our 10 euros back. We were later told that was hotel policy, which wasn't what we'd been told when we got them.

I stayed for one night in November, 2025. The hotel is handy for getting around Milan by subway, only 180 meters from a red-line stop, and just outside the restricted traffic zone for older (Euro 5) diesel cars. Booking well ahead can mean a low price. My rate included breakfast, and parking is included if you book directly rather than through an intermediary. The rooms were clean, and it's adequate for a basic stay. I hadn't booked early enough, so I paid more than $200 USD for a basic room. The place was depressing inside and out. The run-down concrete exterior, unwelcoming facade, poor landscaping, no spot to park while checking in, no exterior sign, dingy garage, awkward route from the garage into the hotel, and tall scaffolding covering much of the building made for a discouraging arrival. Inside, the carpeting and stairs were worn, stained, and dirty, with cheap furniture, tacky signs, uninviting design, and chipped or frayed trim and fixtures. My room's furnishings were well below average. It may technically meet Italy's minimum amenities for four stars, but in quality, appearance, upkeep, and cleanliness it barely deserves two stars compared with two- and three-star hotels I've stayed in before.

I keep coming back to this hotel whenever I'm in the area. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the staff are very professional. Breakfast is good and runs until 10 am, which is handy if you're not working early. I'd recommend it.
