Hotel Savoy Edelweiss

We went in the third week of March, and the snow was still pretty good. The room was standard for a ski trip, but clean, with a great shower, lots of hot water and pressure, and towels changed twice a week. You can’t keep boots or skis at the hotel, but there’s a free arrangement with a ski hire shop by the lift, which is handy. Meals were excellent and generous, with salad, soup, a starter, two mains, and dessert, so there could be as many as six courses if you wanted them all. The chef was hilarious and full of energy. Staff were friendly, and when we had a 6 a.m. return bus, they sent us off with a little breakfast bag. For the price, you get what you pay for, and I’d recommend it to anyone staying in sestriere. We really enjoyed our time here.

For a three-star package hotel, I expected a warm place near the slopes, and it delivered on that and more. Check-in was quick and friendly, with all the information we needed. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a good-sized bathroom and enough wardrobe space for two for a week of skiing. The local ski rental arrangement was a real bonus, since we could store skis there instead of carrying skis and boots back and forth each day. Meals were plentiful and varied, with several options each day; the soups were especially good, and the staff were very friendly. I stayed for a last-minute ski week in March 2022, and the service and food felt well above what I expected from a three-star hotel. I’d gladly return and recommend it to anyone looking for a small, conveniently located place in Sestriere. Thanks to everyone who made the trip so enjoyable.

We were excited to come back after skiing each day for Ivan’s home-cooked food. We’d planned to eat out a couple of nights but ended up dining at the hotel every night. The dishes were delicious, and Ivan clearly cares about his cooking and likes explaining what’s in each one. The room was small but clean, with a comfortable bed and plenty of wardrobe space; the bathroom was large, with hot water and great shower pressure. The hotel has a cozy lounge and bar, and its location is handy for shops, restaurants, bars, and lifts. I.GLOO sky bar is a short walk away for a drink overlooking the slopes, and QB Cafe nearby had reasonably priced drinks and snacks. Staff were friendly and attentive. The ski rental shop was about five minutes away on foot, and the ski school was another five minutes by ski or ten minutes walking from the rental shop. Great value. We’ll book here again when we return to Sestriere.

The food was lovely, though the choices were limited, and most of the staff were nice. Our stay was still really disappointing. The room smelled strongly of drains, so we had to keep the window open, and although the hotel repeatedly said it would be fixed, nothing changed. The shower barely trickled, there was no bath, and after a long day skiing that was frustrating. The room was so dusty I wrote “clean me” on the TV stand. It was noisy most nights, with drunk people coming back at 3 a.m. and no staff stepping in. Management’s response to our complaints made us feel they didn’t care. We won’t stay again.
