The beds were comfortable, but even though the room had been modernized, the bathroom was so tight there was nowhere to set toiletries. They ended up cluttering the room, which also had little storage outside the closet. Breakfast was the least varied of the three hotels we stayed at on the trip. There was just one cheese and two cold cuts, while the others had three or four cheeses and four or five cold cuts. There was no pre-cut fruit to add to yogurt or cereal, only whole apples or plums you had to cut yourself, and the nuts and seeds were limited. They did have boiled and scrambled eggs. The front desk staff said hello whenever we passed, but weren't as attentive as at our other stays in Italy. The location is prime, with easy access to bus stations, tour pickup points, and old town Siena. It felt more like a four-plus experience than a five-star one.

The staff were truly exceptional and found a way to help with whatever came up. Several members of our family were in Siena for a wedding. We had dinner booked for seven on the first night, then the group grew to twelve after everyone arrived that afternoon. At the last minute, the hotel managed to fit us all into a private room. The hotel is in an excellent spot. Cross the road and you're in the old town, but you can still drive right up to the door. The rooms were clean and quiet. There's no elevator, though the staff will happily carry bags upstairs. Parking isn't included, but they helped us find places to park, and we never had trouble finding free parking within a five-minute walk.

The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant, apart from when there's a football game. Piazza del Campo is about a 10-minute walk away. Breakfast was fine and more than enough, and my room had a balcony with a nice view. I was in Siena for five nights for a scientific conference and couldn't have picked a better hotel. It's in an old but stylish building, the room was perfectly adequate for me, and the toilet and shower were great. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I'll come back if I'm in Siena again, hopefully soon.
