Frances Lodge Relais

We stayed in the Moroccan suite and loved its cosy feel and decor. Frances and Franco were wonderful hosts, giving us thoughtful advice, detailed maps, and great tips for our trips. The grounds are beautiful, and the peaceful location makes a great base for visiting different parts of Tuscany. Breakfast each morning was delightful. We’re grateful they helped make our honeymoon such a memorable time.

We spent three lovely days here last week, and Frances and Franco made us feel right at home. The breakfast was fabulous, with one of our favourite views of Siena as the scenery each morning. They shared helpful suggestions about where to park and what to see in the city. We also enjoyed hearing about Siena’s history and the horse race held there twice a year. We’d highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone happy to stay outside Siena.

We didn’t want to leave. A few minutes’ drive outside Siena, Frances Lodge sits in lovely Tuscan countryside, with plenty of cosy corners to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and the view. The rooms are cute, nicely designed, and comfortable enough to make you want to stay forever. Frances and her husband Franco greeted us like old friends and prepared a lovely picnic: wine, salami, pasta, dessert, and more wine, served at a little table overlooking Sienna as the sun set. They’re friendly hosts with lots of stories, and offered itinerary advice, custom maps, and driving routes. Breakfast was fit for kings. You can order the night before by filling in a form and slipping it under your door. No wonder it gets such rave reviews on TripAdvisor, Google Maps, and from Rick Steve himself.

Three years ago, we stayed at Frances' Lodge, where the comfortable rooms and scenic, convenient location made for a great visit. Franco was engaging, and Frances was a delightful host who prepared a lovely breakfast and helped us plan our sightseeing. They added so much to our trip that, after remembering our stay, we want to return. I realized I never wrote this long-overdue review, and I’m happy to recommend the place.
