Hotel Duchessa della Sila

The hotel handled this very unprofessionally by accepting outside guests during a wedding event. The party was still going after 2 AM, and when I asked them to lower the volume a little, they shouted at me rudely. There was no AC, and I couldn't lock my door.

The owners were about as warm and welcoming as anyone could be, and the staff were just as friendly. The service and hospitality were the icing on the cake. This fantastic hotel is in a stunning location, with clean, lovely rooms and all the facilities, including a TV. The bar is great, and the restaurant serves food that's out of this world. Six stars! I can't wait to return.

The food itself wasn't tasty, though the place was really clean, so it gets an extra point for that. We ate there in summer 2022, and the timing was frustrating: we couldn't get dinner at 7 pm because they only serve customers from 8. Even in southern Italy, that doesn't work for everyone, including people who need to eat early for health reasons. The dishes also came out unevenly. Some of us got our main courses alongside the starters ordered by others, while the rest waited 45 minutes for their main course after the first group had finished. I don't understand why so many people want to eat there. This review is only about the restaurant.

We found the restaurant food among the best we ate in Italy, and the staff were helpful. Mary Jane ( english translation of her name) speaks English and was especially useful. We visited from late May into early June 2016, staying in a room with a kitchenette, then in a different room on another occasion. The rooms are nice, with mountain views at the back and a street view at the front. A pool would have been good, though it didn't matter much that time of year. They host quite a few weddings and have nice banquet rooms. It's a short walk to the grocery store for wine or charcuterie.
