Hotel Essenza di Mirto

The hosts, Mario and his lovely daughter, were absolutely charming, and breakfast was simple but tasty. We spent a week here and loved the beautiful views of the mountains and hills. Everything was spotless and well looked after. Highly recommended!

The rooms didn't have cutlery or a kettle for making coffee, and there was nothing available to buy during the day, not even coffee from a machine. Breakfast was poor too: on our first day there was no fruit or milk for the kids. The host was friendly, but he was running the place by himself, apart from a cleaner who took care of the rooms. I was asked to keep the kids quiet at 7.30am. Sorry, but I'll keep them quiet from 10pm to 7am. They were also told off for playing in the trees, which I didn't like. It's a pretty, calm place, but that's about it. I don't understand how it got a 9.7 on Booking!

The garden is the best part, with a nice view, tables, chairs and sun loungers. You can hear sheep's bells in the fields, which gives it a lovely country feel. Mario was super nice and helped whenever we needed anything. He shared interesting things about the place and the fruit he grows, and we got to try his mirto liqueur. It was delicious, and nothing else comes close. The rooms are clean, functional, nicely arranged and the beds are comfortable. The place is quite new and still not fully ready, though you can tell it's an important project for the owners. I would suggest adding glasses, plates and cutlery to the rooms, which would make an aperitivo in that lovely garden easier. Breakfast is good by Italian and Sardinian standards. A little more variation would be nice if staying longer than one night. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment hotel in Sardinia, and would come back anytime. The service was excellent from arrival to departure, everything was spotless, and the quiet, beautiful setting had an authentic, relaxing feel. The owners were incredibly warm and welcoming. You can tell it's a family business where people really care about their guests. It felt so much better than one of those big, impersonal hotel chains, and the thoughtful care made it worth every cent.
