Hotel S'Arena Beach

We spent seven nights dealing with mold and insects, and left feeling our holiday had been ruined. We paid €2600 and came away with a bizarre, horrible experience. The hotel now ignores us on WhatsApp and made no real effort to put things right. The problems started straight away: our room was tiny and not properly cleaned, and the food was so poor we only ate there on the first day. On our fifth night, I was bitten by bedbugs. We pulled off the mattress covers and found an infestation. At reception, Lilio listened, came to see for himself, and offered us a so-called “comfort room.” It cost more, but was hardly comfortable. The air conditioner was covered in black mold and barely worked, and the room was damp and stuffy. Apart from another painting on the wall, it was practically the same room with much less privacy. It was no upgrade. We had to move all our things ourselves in the middle of the night. The next morning, the hotel messaged us on WhatsApp to say we’d have to pay extra to keep that room. We refused. They offered €150 back for the last two nights, although a new hotel would cost at least €400, and also wanted to charge us for a late checkout because this all happened after 10 a.m. They said they’d called a special cleaning service to treat the room, but wouldn’t show us any details or reports. We never got an apology. People were incredibly rude, especially Arianne, Jessica (the owner’s daughter), and practically every woman working there. Lilio was the one person who genuinely listened, helped, and stood up for us. Even at checkout, they tried to overcharge us. Don’t stay here if you want to enjoy your vacation. The whole experience was awful, and the hotel treated us very poorly.

Set back from the public areas, this place feels tucked away while still being close to town. It was sparkling clean, and room service was great. Reception staff were always helpful and knew their stuff, and the restaurant team gave top-notch service. My only suggestion would be to put larger drying racks on the room patios.

A clean, modern hotel with a lovely pool area, just right for a relaxing break. Half-board included a delicious four-course dinner, and the beach is five minutes away.

The room bore little resemblance to the photos on the booking site, and if I’d known what it was really like, I wouldn’t have booked. It was filthy: dust everywhere, stains on the walls and curtains, and loads of dirty black hairs on the sheets and pillows. We reported it on day one, but the cleaning staff were rude and insisted it wasn’t dirty. They offered a supposedly better room for €500 more, which we couldn’t afford as students. We tried to get on with it, but the dinner was disgusting and breakfast was the most basic I’ve ever seen. Then, in the night, my roommate was bitten by an insect. We checked the mattresses and found bedbugs and eggs in the seams, plus lots of dead ants. In shock, we packed our things and went to reception in the middle of the night. A kind man at the desk gave us another room, but it still wasn’t hygienic. There was black mold in the air conditioner and on the showerheads. The following morning, reception messaged to say the new room would cost extra, something no one had told us before. We didn’t get an apology. Instead, the owner called us into a meeting and gave us two options: leave for the last two days and supposedly get only €150 back, a refund that would take weeks through the travel agency and wouldn’t cover another nearby hotel, which was much more expensive; or stay and, as they put it, “keep our mouths shut” about anything we didn’t like. The last two days were no better. They claimed the moldy AC was cleaned every few days, but with that much mold it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for months. It didn’t work or blow air, so the room was hot and stuffy and we couldn’t sleep properly. We couldn’t leave the door open either, because the hallways were full of hundreds of mosquitoes and other insects. The hotel advertises WhatsApp help, but ignored every message we sent asking for assistance. I’ve never stayed somewhere so filthy, with staff so unfriendly and unhelpful. One man at reception really did try to help, but the other women we dealt with were extremely rude. No one apologized. We’re going home stressed, with bedbugs to deal with, instead of rested. I strongly advise against staying here if you don’t want to sleep in a filthy, insect-infested place.
