Matta Village

We had read the recent reviews before our trip and even thought about changing hotels, but we're so glad we stayed. The hotel is tired in places. We had half a shower door, for example, though it didn’t spoil the experience, and our room was spotlessly clean. The staff were amazing, always smiling and willing to help with anything. It’s remote, but you can catch the bus to the nearest villages and towns. We had a really peaceful, relaxing time and never had trouble finding a sunbed at the pool or the beech. The beech was clean and sheltered. The food was great, and the all-inclusive drinks selection was more than adequate. If you do want a premium spirit, it cost only 4 euros. If you expect complete perfection, pay 4 x the price and go to Forte village. For sun, sea, sand, peace and great service, this was just fine. We’d happily return.

We spent two weeks at TUI Blue Matta Village in August. The pool was dirty and felt unsafe to swim in: the lining was lifting, which seems like a health and safety concern, and green algae was all over it, turning black in many places. Reception said the sauna and steam rooms were out of order for the whole season. The food was decent quality, but never hot, only lukewarm at best. The all-inclusive drinks choice was very limited, with most drinks costing extra. For what we paid, this wasn’t up to the usual standard of a TUI Blue adults only hotel.

The beach area is lovely, and the staff are friendly. That's about it. The pool is freezing and filthy, just grim. All-inclusive feels a bit misleading if you want anything besides beer or wine. Rooms are dated, the showers are rubbish and dirty, and the food is alright but very repetitive. I thought the negative reviews might have come from fussy people, but they were right. I don't know how there are so many 5* reviews. Seriously, don't book this hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The hotel is remote, though there are good trips and a free bus to the nearest town. We had a lovely time and were sad to leave, and we will return. The food was great, the pool was lovely, and the surroundings were quiet and peaceful. The rooms were spacious and clean, with comfortable beds, though they need a bit of updating. Maintenance still has outstanding jobs to finish, and that lets everyone down. The beautiful white beach was quiet and relaxing, surrounded by pine woods. The staff all gave 100 percent and did so much to make our holiday better. Lily and Rosie were lovely. The activities team, Jessica and Margo, worked hard and helped us enjoy team games with other guests and make lots of friends.
