Izabela looked after us especially well, and all the staff were kind and helpful. The place was clean and comfortable, with a fantastic pool, and it’s near Syrakuza. You can tell the staff pay attention to the details. Breakfast was the one weak point: the selection was really limited. A few small additions, like more fruit and vegetables and maybe some hot options, could improve it.

My friend and I booked through the “lastminute” agency and stayed in room 201 at the “Albatros” in Syracusa from 22 to 29 September 2024. The staff were friendly and worked hard, changing the towels and making the bed every day. The bathroom, beds, and air conditioning were good, and the pool water was clean, though cold. The pool is small, only 1.30m deep, and there were so many wasps, mosquitoes, and flies around the exercise equipment that we couldn’t use that area. The hotel’s location made the holiday very difficult for us. It sits in the middle of a large field with no shops, cafes, or takeaways nearby, and it can only be reached by car or taxi. We didn’t have a driver’s license or spare money for a taxi, which cost £20 each way. Walking to the center wasn’t safe because the fast roads had no sidewalks, and renting bikes wasn’t suitable since we hadn’t ridden in a long time. We’re both over 55, so walking for more than an hour in the heat wasn’t possible. We ended up staying at the hotel for the whole holiday. There was no balcony or place to dry towels and swimsuits in our room, no microwave, and no free coffee or mineral water. A few tea bags were there at first, but none were provided afterward. The hotel only served breakfast, and the choice was poor, with no hot food such as porridge, omelets, beans, sausages, or bacon, and no vegetables. If you arrived around 10, when breakfast closed, you might not even get a sandwich. The TV had just one music channel, and we couldn’t find an English news channel. Wi-Fi didn’t work outside the hotel, and the website photos mostly didn’t match what we saw. We were charged another £20 in tourist tax. What for? We got a stressful, ruined holiday and too many problems. I’m upset about losing our money because the price didn’t match the quality, and I don’t understand why this hotel has four stars. I wouldn’t recommend it for a holiday, only perhaps for an overnight stop.
