Cala Coralli

The place itself is beautiful, but our three-day, two-night stay after arriving from Palermo left us disappointed by the upkeep. We got aesthetically perfect rooms on Sunday at lunchtime, but one had a leaking air conditioner. They gave us a bucket and mop and left us to clean it ourselves, and there was no hot water. The next day, they moved us to a suite to make up for it, which we appreciated. The other room had a strong sewer smell in the bathroom, so we kept its door shut and the aerator running for all three days. There wasn't even a window. The pool was cleaned only on Sunday, and the water wasn't changed for the rest of our stay; it got extremely dirty. Breakfast was awful, and in the intense heat we had to eat in the sun because there was no room left in the shade. The girls on the morning shift seemed annoyed by our requests. It could be a fantastic place for a relaxing holiday, but with these problems it wasn't relaxing for us, and I don't think we'll return.

The hotel is quite isolated, which made getting around difficult without a car. There was just one bus line, the shuttle was often unavailable, and an Uber to Syracuse cost around €30. Still, Cala Coralli Resort is a magnificent place for a romantic break. We spent two nights there; the room was very comfortable, the pool superb, and breakfast delicious. The tasteful decor and high-quality materials made the resort a pleasure to look at. Some technical details, such as the sockets, lighting, and faucets, didn't quite match the rest. Nothing major, but fixing them would make the stay perfect.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool looked nice, though it wasn't very clean. Our room had a sewage smell coming up from the drains, and a lot of dust blew in from the road beside the property.

It's still being built, but the resort already shows how much attention is going into the details. The pool especially stands out.
