The staff were lovely, but we came away disappointed after looking forward to our stay at Dimora. We booked the suite with a living room because we were travelling with our toddler, but there was nowhere convenient to make tea or coffee or eat a takeaway. A tiny kettle was brought on request, but there were no cups and nowhere handy to plug it in. The living room also had a big red light and no lampshades. For much of the day there was nobody at reception, so it was very quiet and we couldn’t ask for anything. The hotel is on a busy street in a less desirable part of town, and we could hear traffic from the courtyard. Ortigia is walkable, though the walk wasn’t especially pleasant. I usually like smaller hotels, but with a young child we missed basic amenities that would have helped.
Breakfast was divine, with fresh food served so thoughtfully, and Valentina and her team were wonderful and clearly cared about our stay and our time in town. We spent three nights here with our toddler and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The property feels unlike anywhere else, with trees, plants, and ancient caves. Our room was large and worked well with a little one, especially with the tub. The archaeological park, including the tomb of Archimedes and Ear of Dionysus, is a few minutes away on foot, and Ortigia is only a short drive.
The staff were amazing, welcoming, and easy to talk to. The cabin was roomy and clean, with the ruins and the city conveniently close by. This was our favorite place on our 18-day road trip through Italy and Sicily. I wish we’d had more time here and would gladly stay again. If you’re thinking about booking, go ahead.
We had the large suite with a private terrace, and it was absolutely stunning. The owners were amazing and gave us lots of tips about where to go and what to eat. The place is lovely, and the room and service were great. It’s well placed for walking to the attractions and old city, with good parking, so we didn’t have to drive into the busy center.
We came for our honeymoon and had a lovely time. The owner was especially kind and endlessly helpful. Our room was stunning, and we also enjoyed the charming shared terrace with its ancient ruins. The hotel sits just beyond the busiest part of town, so it’s fairly quiet, with nice restaurants even closer than Ortigia, which is about a 20-minute walk away. We highly recommend it.
