Casa Thuja

We had a very good stay. The room was roomy, modern, and well equipped, and everything was efficiently maintained. The location was excellent, and the owners were exceptionally kind. Breakfast at nearby cafés was good too. The only small issue was the windows. They were a little dated but well cared for, and outside noise came through. We noticed it, though it wasn’t enough to cause a problem. Highly recommended.

The host was so kind, the welcome lovely, and even the towels smelled wonderful. The beds were comfortable, and the large bathroom was spotless. There was a hairdryer and mini-fridge as well. It’s a really nice, very clean place in a handy location for getting to Ortigia or the highways. You have to stay here!

Breakfast was fresh and suited to guests’ needs, with the nearby café providing the B&B’s own produce. The owner was attentive and very helpful. The rooms felt welcoming and were spotless, with new furnishings chosen with good taste. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our trip to Sicily, and the hostess was lovely. She was welcoming, easy to reach, and always tried to help with questions or requests. We also appreciated the sweet treats at the start and end of the trip. The rooms seem practically new and are furnished in a functional way. The location is somewhat away from touristy Ortigia, so reaching the beautiful harbor and its sunset views meant quite a walk each day. The bigger issue was the constant, loud traffic noise. The house is poorly soundproofed and sits on a busy main road. In Camera Gialla, the open clothes rack was too small for all our travel clothes, so sometimes we had to live out of our suitcases. The room was also tight for a queen-size bed, which was a real space problem for someone of average height. There was only one fitted sheet, so one of us ended up using a large towel as a makeshift blanket. A second sheet would help. The narrow gaps between the bed and rack meant our shins or feet kept painfully catching on the bed’s sharp edges. Rounded lower edges or a light cushion would make a difference. There was a coffee maker and sugar, but no coffee grounds or powdered milk. The online description didn’t make clear that only tea would be provided, so it would have been nice to have those too.
