The hotel is modern, clean, nicely decorated, and within walking distance of the tourist areas. The rooms are spacious, but there’s only one shared space, the courtyard. I was travelling with 31 high school teenagers, and there was nowhere for them to spend time together. The marble floors make the halls echo, and the thin walls meant we could hear conversations in the next room. I asked if we could use the breakfast room in the evening, but was told we couldn’t. I’ve found that many places I’ve stayed in Italy over the last few years have added American breakfast options such as eggs or pancakes. Hotel Centrale still serves the typical Italian breakfast, a corneto and coffee, perhaps with some cold cuts. A mixed experience.

For one night, this was decent enough. The room was small but modern, with air conditioning, a fine bathroom, and a comfortable bed. It’s within walking distance of central Syracuse. The downsides were a small window with no view, the cramped room, and a noisy refrigerator. The only nearby parking was an expensive garage across the street, so with parking at 25 €, I would have chosen a pricier hotel with free parking.

The staff were so helpful, especially Christian, who looked after us at breakfast. The hotel is in a quiet pedestrian area, close to all the main attractions, and the location is excellent. Highly recommended!

Getting around was easy from here, with the bus and train station close by and downtown just a short walk away. Our room was decent, the air conditioning worked really well, and breakfast was amazing. The staff were so helpful and did everything they could for us.

We barely slept during our two nights because our room faced a really busy, noisy street. If you’re a light sleeper, this may not be the place for you. The hotel itself is conveniently near the center, with the bus and railway stations only a few metres away. Most of the staff didn’t speak English, though one or two did, and everyone was very helpful.
