La Maison di Ortigia by Wonderful Italy

We booked and paid for La Maison di Ortigia through Wonderful Italy two months before our trip. A week or two before leaving, we completed a very extensive online pre-check-in with our date of birth, passport number and other details, something I'd never had to do before. While we were already on our way, they suddenly became frantic, sending repeated messages through Booking.com and WhatsApp to get me to complete pre-check-in, even though it had already been confirmed. They called, but I was in transit, so they asked me to call back. I checked the phone book several times before finally reaching someone who had no idea what was going on. After we landed in Sicily, I was told they still couldn't provide the accommodation we'd booked and paid for two months earlier. They even told Booking.com that we hadn't shown up. After a lot of back and forth, they cancelled the booking a few days later and refunded less than I had paid. We had to find somewhere else in a rush, using poor internet on the bus from the airport to Syracuse, and it cost more. Steer clear of Wonderful Italy. They are crooks!
