The rooms and beds were great, and the location is amazing. But if you’re a light sleeper in a room facing the church or street, bring earplugs. The doors and windows are so thin it feels like people outside could be standing in your bedroom. It’s hard to sleep with a bar nearby and a nice hangout spot for younger people.

The staff were so kind and friendly, and the hotel is in a great spot on Ortigia island. Our room was roomy and comfortable. We skipped the hotel breakfast, but the staff pointed us to a nearby coffee shop that was really good, so we didn’t mind.

We slept comfortably in the four-poster bed, and despite being right in the center of Ortigia, there was hardly any noise from outside. The bedroom was a good size, with a little balcony looking over a square. We booked two nights, May 28-30, 2016, and got a very friendly welcome. They spoke good English and helped us carry our bags to the room. There’s a lovely courtyard with a wooden bench and chairs, nice for eating outdoors on a warm evening. Breakfast was a feast. The area felt safe and is full of history, with little lanes to wander and plenty of bars, restaurants, and a small supermarket within easy walking distance. The Google Street View image really doesn’t do the place justice. I’d highly recommend this B & B.
