Palazzo del Sale

Giovanni was a lovely host and helped with restaurant and transport suggestions. Breakfast was nice and served in the bar he runs beside the B&B. The place offers good value for money, especially with Ortigia hotels being expensive. Our spacious room had everything we could want, and the shared living room was very nice. We also had our own deck, which was a bonus. The B&B is in the heart of beautiful Ortigia, within walking distance of everywhere. Highly recommended.

This is a review of Cucumella cafe/bar, the recent addition to Palazzo del Sale. We didn’t stay at Palazzo del Sale, but after tasting the espresso and experiencing Giovanny’s hospitality, we kept coming back every day, sometimes twice. The Neapolitan espresso was fantastic, the homemade antipasti and desserts amazing, and the wine selection great. It’s a perfect spot to start or end a day in Ortigia. Can’t recommend it enough.

We had the room with a private terrace up the stairs on the third floor, and everything was charming. Giovanni served a simple cappuccino and croissant breakfast at the street-level tables, where we could watch the neighborhood and plan our day. He’s an encyclopedia of helpful information. Just the kind of B&B you hope to find!

Bad experience. A year after our stay, we received a €198 police fine for entering the ZTL Zone in our hired car, even though we used the Hotel’s valet parking service. The Hotel said it would pay the fine, but never did.
