Alexandra Stay Residence

I know people are entitled to leave bad reviews, but my friends and I had a good experience at Alexandra Stay. The room was clean and nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve stayed at five-star hotels and resorts, and this place worked well for what we needed: somewhere to rest near Verona. The price included buffet breakfast for the three of us. I’d definitely recommend it.

The breakfast restaurant has a lovely direct view of the lake, and the breakfast itself was very good, quite high-end. Our room was very big, clean, and fairly recently renovated, with a huge balcony around it. From there you can see the lake on both sides of the peninsula, as well as the snow-covered mountains. It was quiet in November, at least while we were there. The staff were quite nice. I’m giving four stars for service because we were charged 25 Euros for checking in after 11 p.m.

The two things we liked were the free parking and the great breakfast at nearby Villa Pioppi. The parking is in front of another nearby hotel, so you have to carry your luggage to the hotel on foot. The staff were hospitable, too. We booked a 50 m2 family room for four and paid over 200 euro, but got a small ground-floor room, number 304. It smelled quite bad, and the old drawers and kitchen cabinets were broken and unusable. The furniture was heavily worn. The bed was raw wooden boards with a cover on top, and very hard. The other beds, made of iron pipes, made a lot of noise whenever anyone moved at night. Water pressure was so low there was almost no hot water in the shower, which was inconvenient with two small children. Apparently, room quality varies quite a bit between the different hotel grounds. We stayed just one night and definitely wouldn’t return.

Our huge room was a whole apartment, with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a balcony with a view. Free parking and a great breakfast were included, and the staff were friendly. The centre is a bit far away.
