Hotel Porto Azzurro

The room was on the small side, perhaps because we booked the standard room. The bed was comfortable, and the temperature control and shower worked well. There’s a little outdoor sitting area by the room, but without lighting it gets too dark to use at night. The Old Town and Sirmione castle are about 2.5km away, though the walk isn’t very interesting. A bus costs €2 per person per trip and takes credit cards, but it stops running on 28th Sep, probably because it’s low season. You can also drive to the edge of the old town, where parking costs €3.50 per hour.

We had a delightful two-night stay, with easy parking right on the property and plenty of food options nearby. The old town is about a 35-minute walk away, or you can take the shuttle from the station just across from the hotel. We’d gladly stay again.

The beds were comfortable, breakfast was decent, and the pool area was nice. It’s a pleasant area with restaurants within easy walking distance, and there’s a shuttle into town if you don’t want to walk a couple of km. As a hotel guest, I didn’t expect to have to pay for pool towels. The rooms were comfy, but the Wi-Fi was weak and we could hear the neighbours. We also felt lucky to get a parking space, even though we’d specifically checked about parking when booking.

The room setup was ridiculous for what I booked. I asked for a double bed for two, but got a room with three single beds and one double, with no room to move around and not a single chair. I stubbed my toes several times. When I asked to change rooms, they said I’d have to pay more. There was no Wi-Fi in the room; they said it reached the hallway door, so that was sufficient. The front desk was useless. Breakfast was good, and there was a nice fellow in the lobby bar. Parking was a nightmare, since there are only a few spaces on the property and you might get one. The room safe was on the floor, and at 75byoo it wasn’t worth the back and knee pain to use it. Ridiculous barely covers it.
