Miramar

The hotel staff were wonderful, from housekeeping and reception to the bar and wait staff. They were professional, genuine, and just lovely. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant twice and really enjoyed the food, along with a good choice of wine. Breakfast was lovely too, with great coffee and a good food selection, though, as you’d expect in Italy, there were lots of sweet pastries. The location is delightful, close to the castle and right by the lake, with a private pier. Our room had its own balcony looking over the water.

The desserts were good, and breakfast was okay. The staff were helpful, and it’s a nice hotel, but the menu lets it down. There’s just one fish dish, which we don’t eat, one very small meat option, and a vegetarian dish. We’ll be eating out a few times, and we’re having more food at lunchtime than we normally would.

The staff were nice and breakfast was good, but I can’t recommend this place because the rooms were dirty, which is unacceptable to me. Also, be careful when booking: some rooms are very small, and what you think is a double room may actually be a single. The price is for two people, but the room we got shouldn’t have been offered for two, as it wasn’t comfortable for both of us to sleep in.

Two very elderly ladies travelling with walking aids had a lovely week, from Sept 21st to Sept 28th. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were sweet, and breakfast was generous. We paid an extra 40 Euros a night to move to a larger room overlooking the lake. The 800 metre walk into Sirmione town was a stiff one for us, but from town you could catch a ferry to anywhere on the lake. That was just as well because the local taxis weren’t interested in short trips. The TUI rep, Rory, was excellent too.
