We love coming back to Vinschgau. It's one of the warmest and driest Alpine regions, and the blend of Italian and Austrian culture is lovely in both summer and winter. Schluderns/Sluderno is a charming little village for walks, with good family skiing in winter and cultural outings for anyone who doesn't ski. For a hotel stay with meals included, Hotel Engel is always our first choice. Our family has now spent three Christmas holidays there. It's family owned, and the hotel, facilities, restaurant, service, and staff are all top quality at a very reasonable price. There are saunas and several pools, including one on the roof with spectacular Alpine views.

The half board meal was hearty, and this is a good hotel. The church bells are loud, but the rooftop pool and jacuzzi are fantastic.
