Hotel Villa Malpensa felt like an oasis beside the airport. The grounds are beautiful, and even with a bit of rain I enjoyed walking around them. I also walked the mile down the road to Ticino Park, which I recommend if you need some fresh air, trees and grass away from the city. I spent nine nights here while volunteering with Team USA for the Olympic Welcome Experience, then returned for another two nights the following week. Every part of both stays was excellent. The team was professional, organized, helpful and knowledgeable. The concierge arranged a car service to central Milano, and the driver and service were outstanding. I set up a return ride with them that day, and the hotel also arranged transport for my daughter to Linate. With Olympic traffic and some chaos on public transit those weeks, that help mattered. I used the hotel shuttle to go back and forth to the airport every day for my volunteer shift. The drivers and service were amazing. I ate dinner in the hotel dining room most nights, with an excellent selection and outstanding wine pairings. The room was nicely set up for conversation with other guests. I also liked the smaller, more intimate bar and ate there twice. The bartenders were so helpful. One night I left my book behind, and a bartender brought it straight to my room. Before I left, I asked the staff to hold a little gift bag for a friend checking in the next day. They made sure it was delivered safely, and my friend was delighted to find it. Such a kind thing to do. Thank you, I'll be back!

Our last night in Italy felt like part of the trip, rather than just a convenient stop before an early flight. The restaurant was worth visiting too. Though it's close to the airport, this isn't an ordinary airport hotel. It has the distinct Italian villa character shown in the online photos. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional, from the shuttle driver and reception to the restaurant wait staff.

It's an elegant old villa that's been repurposed, and it makes for good pictures. The pool is nice, and there's an active bar, snack bar and restaurant, despite what Google says. They're only open in the evening. The restaurant food was decent but expensive. There's nothing within walking distance, but that doesn't matter much if you're just sleeping here during a layover. The airport is five minutes away, and they have a free shuttle.

We made a short stop here and got engaged the same night 💍. The concierge didn't acknowledge our happy news, which was kind of funny, but he stayed professional. I respect that, even if it can feel strange when someone meets your excitement with a very different energy. The hotel has castle-like vibes, parking available, and a clean, nice room. Great location for staying close to the airport. Great hotel, great stay.

The restaurant is lovely, with a great menu, and I'd recommend the hotel. It's convenient and very nice, and the price sets expectations for rooms that are a little bare bones. One issue was the heat in the room on a hot day in April. I don't think they'd switched on the cooling system yet and only had the heater running, so there was no way to cool it down except opening the tiny window. I stayed just one night, but if it had been hotter, it would've been very uncomfortable.
