The owner was friendly, but the room was awful. It was very cold and damp, the sheets were old and dirty, and there was no hot water in the shower.

We were a group of 11 friends and they gave us the best table, right in the middle of the room. Everyone could easily choose a dish. We shared cured meats and cheeses to start, along with all-you-can-eat scampi, which was a great beginning to the evening. I had the mushroom tagliatelle and loved it. Some of my friends had pizza and others tried the pizzoccheri, so there was something for everyone. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. We'd booked ahead, which I'd recommend for a group. There was plenty of parking along the streets, and it wasn't too hard to find a spot. A great dinner at Hotel Stelvio Restaurant in Bormio.

The room was fine, the bathroom only so-so, and the lock on the door needs fixing. I picked this place because I couldn't find a cheaper rate. In October, it seemed you couldn't get a meal or breakfast, probably because those services run in summer and winter. Quite a few places close then anyway. Looking back, maybe even the room price was high. Still, in Valtellina you can't expect much better. In other parts of Italy, I've found much better places for less, with lavish breakfasts.
