Il Fontanile

We were welcomed by a kind, friendly woman, and the apartment was spacious and fully equipped. We especially liked having outdoor space for meals, plus swings, hammocks, loungers, a barbecue, and a lovely pool. The property has four apartments, each with its own step-free entrance, set in a large flower-filled garden with parking. It’s peaceful and surrounded by nature. Sovana is about 1 km away, and Sorano and Pitigliano are also good villages to visit. Saturnia and the Mulino waterfalls are 30 km away. A charming place for a quiet break.

The owner was really kind and helpful, and the surroundings are quiet, with nature and Tuscan hills all around. The rooms are roomy and furnished with the basics for a comfortable stay, and there’s a decent-sized pool. Wi-Fi was unreliable unless you were near the pool, which is awkward when it rains. Mobile data was weak for me too. A good choice for a few days in the countryside.

The setting and rooms are beautiful, which makes the condition such a shame. The apartment was badly maintained and very damp, with water dripping from bathroom tiles and some of the walls. Cleaning was poor as well. In the kitchen I came across expired spices, vinegar, and salt, along with biscuits left over from 2018.

A peaceful spot with plenty of parking and a lovely pool among the greenery. The apartments were clean and welcoming. It’s well placed for visiting Pitigliano, Saturnia, and nearby places. Wi-Fi works around the pool, though the signal could be better. If quiet is what you want, it fits.
