Hotel Art Hotel Gran Paradiso

The views were the best part of our stay at Art Hotel Gran Paradiso. The scenery is beautiful, and although our balcony wasn't private, it was still a lovely outlook. The rooms were very clean too. We were there for our honeymoon, but the hotel didn't feel like the right fit. Check-in was disappointing: no one offered to help with our bags or show us to the room, and we were just handed a key. Other hotels we stayed in during our two weeks in Europe had welcomed us much more warmly. The beds were extremely firm, and by the end of our five nights I had significant back pain. The hotel calls itself an “art hotel,” but the furniture and decor felt cold and clinical to us, more like a hospital. The neon-painted doors on each floor weren't very inviting, and the large, unsettling image covering a wall in our first room made it hard to relax, especially on our honeymoon. I included a photo. To the hotel's credit, they moved us when we raised the issue, and we appreciated them accommodating us. It's also not the most convenient base if you want to spend time in town. There's a free shuttle every 90 minutes, which helps, but miss it and you're waiting or paying around €30 each way for a taxi. That made getting to excursions more stressful than we'd expected. We made the most of Sorrento, but wouldn't stay here again. I can see the style suiting some people, but it wasn't for us, especially for a special occasion like a honeymoon.

The food is the main thing I'd change. It's nice enough, but a little pricey for the quality, and the pizza looked great but didn't live up to what you'd expect in this area. Still, the restaurant can be handy if you don't fancy the hill or waiting for the regular shuttle into town. We spent a week here and loved the stunning views, excellent pool, and mostly relaxed atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, and evenings had a chilled vibe. It's a romantic getaway and a good starting point for exploring the beautiful Amalfi scenery.

A free shuttle runs to and from the city on a schedule, and there's free parking if you're driving, which was super convenient. The hotel is spotless and sits in a gorgeous location with amazing views. The staff were welcoming and the service was great. Highly recommended!

The rooms are nice, but the service was very poor. They didn't go out of their way to help us, and when the rooms weren't ready, they tried to switch us to something else. Getting around wasn't easy either: outside shuttle hours, reaching the hotel is inconvenient, and it's quite a hike up from the beach. The pictures make the location look appealing, but there are plenty of nice places closer to the beach.
