For a 3* hotel, the service was amazing from beginning to end. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and both the room and bathroom were spotless. I took off one star because a room that sleeps three doesn’t have enough storage, especially for a stay of a week or longer. The walls are also a bit thin, and unfortunately we had snorers next door. Breakfast had plenty of options for most people. I’m gluten sensitive and could still have tomatoes, cucumber, frankfurter, bacon, cold meats, cheese, and egg. I’m told the pastries and cake are excellent. The woman making fresh coffee is lovely and really knows her craft. If you’re able bodied, it’s a 22 minute walk downhill into town; otherwise, the number 8 bus runs from just outside every 20 mins and costs 2 euros. The hot(warm) tub on the roof terrace was spectacular, with amazing views. You miss the sunset because of where it faces, but it’s a great spot for coffee or evening drinks from the bar or local supermarket.

Really clean, with superb service. The bus stop is right outside, and you can be in Sorrento in 5 minutes. Walking takes around 15. There’s also a beautiful view from the top of the hotel.

We couldn’t sleep during our two nights, so we cut the stay short after two days. A busy main road runs along three sides of the hotel, with awful noise day and night. The doors and windows seemed poorly insulated or wouldn’t close properly. Reception seemed focused on selling extra services and did a lot of talking, but didn’t listen or help. Some bathrooms hadn’t been renovated, despite what the official photos show. Breakfast was like a poor youth hostel, and the terrace was exposed to traffic noise and smells. The bar was always closed when we looked. All this came at a hefty price.

We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast, then the spa upstairs on the roof, with its spectacular views of the ocean and coastline. The facilities were good, the rooms and ensuites adequate, and everything was very clean. Stefano greeted us as soon as we walked in with a refreshing shot of Limoncello sorbet, which was a lovely surprise. Staff were friendly and courteous, and shared tips on places to explore. The location works well: the Number 8 bus stop is right outside and costs two Euros, though you can walk to the city centre if you’re fit enough. My family and I were very happy we chose Hotel Britannia in Sorrento. Thank you.
