Hotel Miramare

Our room was infested with hundreds of ants, all over the bathroom and our luggage, even inside my retainer case. I put it in in the dark and got a shock, with an extra dose of protein. It was a truly immersive experience, but not one we wanted. We told the front desk, and they offered to come spray, but nobody showed up. Instead they returned our call at 11:30 at night, long after we'd given up waiting and gone to sleep before an early excursion. We complained again the next day and were moved to a much smaller room, even though we'd paid for a more spacious one. A lovely way to spend our honeymoon. At checkout they refused any compensation, not even for the room downgrade. The location is lovely and Sorrento itself is magic, but management made our stay much more stressful than it needed to be. Staff told us, “It's nature, it's fine...” and we felt gaslighted. If we'd wanted nature, we'd have stayed at the RV Park down the road. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're deeply fond of insects and indifferent to the situation. The rooms are beautiful and newly renovated, and without the ants it would've been a wonderful stay.

The staff were lovely, and the bartender was especially friendly. Our room was clean and spacious, with a great view. Breakfast was good too; we ate there each morning and stayed full while exploring. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back.

The pool was small, but it was a nice place to cool off and was never crowded. The hotel was beautiful and spotless, and breakfast was lovely. Our room had no outdoor space, though, so ask for a balcony or terrace when booking if that matters to you.

The quiet evenings and sunsets were a real treat, since Hotel Miramare sits just outside Sorrento's busiest tourist area. The town center is still a short walk away, and we found it easy to explore the streets, catch a ferry to Capri, or simply enjoy the views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. We were struck by how warmly the staff looked after us. They helped arrange tours and taxis, suggested local restaurants and less obvious places to see, and remembered our coffee orders and names. It felt more like being welcomed into a friend's home than staying at a hotel. The food was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast included fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, and traditional Italian choices, all served thoughtfully. We had dinner at the hotel one evening too, and it was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From the welcome when we arrived to the helpful service throughout, we felt comfortable and well cared for. Hotel Miramare was a highlight of our trip, and we left with lovely memories and every intention of returning.
