Piazzetta San Giovanni B&B

The breakfast arranged by the B&B at what we thought was the best pastry shop in Salento was a highlight. The hosts were kind and really helpful, and the rooms were impressively roomy for four of us and very clean. We stayed in a historic building in the lovely village of Specchia, which made it easy to explore Salento. The village sits a little higher up, so the weather is great, and in the evening we could easily go out for dinner, take a walk, and get delicious gelato. A good choice for seeing Salento from Lecce to Otranto, Leica, and Gallipoli, as well as the best beaches. Culture, sea, excellent food, and a perfect place to stay!

Alessandro was attentive and generous with useful advice throughout our lovely stay. Specchia is full of history and a pleasure to explore. Even though the B&B is in the historic center, we never had any major trouble finding nearby parking. The photo shows the terrace that all B&B guests can use.

We’ll definitely come back. Our room was really a rustic, characterful apartment, with arches and typical Salento decorations, plus all the amenities we needed. There’s also a shared living room leading onto a lovely terrace with a view over the historic center rooftops. The property is right downtown, easy to reach, and parking is very close. From booking through checkout, the hosts were discreet, helpful, friendly, and welcoming.

Claudia gave us such a friendly welcome, and staying in a historic home was a fantastic experience. The room and all the other spaces we could use were clean, fresh-smelling, and comfortable, with a very comfortable mattress and pillows. It’s quiet, right in the heart of the historic center beside the castle 😍😍😍, and breakfast was at Martinucci pastry shop in the castle courtyard. We also enjoyed an interesting tour of the underground oil mills and the castle with a wonderful guide from the local tourist office. Maybe we’ll come back for another stay!
