The location made it easy to explore the region, while still offering peaceful evenings after a day out. Communication before and during the stay was excellent. Pamela at reception was deeply committed to making guests feel looked after, and her restaurant and attraction recommendations really enriched our trip. From arrival, the welcome and hospitality made us feel at home. Masseria La Macchiola & Corti del Mito was spotless and beautifully decorated, with thoughtful touches like fresh linens and useful local tips. It was a memorable mix of comfort, charm, and authentic Italian warmth. I can easily recommend Masseria La Macchiola to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Italy.

The room smelled of smoke when we arrived, and the bathroom was quite different from the one shown on the website. We'd booked a suite based on those pictures and expected its bathroom to match, but it didn't feel like a suite bathroom to us. When we raised the issues, the employee contacted the owner, who wasn't available to speak with us until the following day. Once we did speak, we felt she wasn't taking us seriously. We'd planned to stay 8 nights, but left after just 1 and changed locations to save our holiday. From our perspective, the website photos don't show what you actually get.

The people working here and the hosts were professional and helpful, and I had peaceful, relaxing evenings at La Macchiola. It's a great base for a Puglie tour, too. I visited Castro, Lecce, and Otrante, then returned to the calm each night. La Macchiola is definitely the place to stay in Spongano. The owner was eager to share the story of how this old farmhouse was transformed, and the staff gave us really helpful sightseeing tips. Everyone at reception was efficient and kind. The rooms are lovely and spacious, with a huge lounge that worked perfectly for breakfast. A superb hotel residence.
