Palazzina Rosa

We were three people staying in the pink building in Spormaggiore, mainly to ski in Andalo, about 9-10 km away. The welcome was excellent: they greeted us right away, explained everything, and kept in touch on WhatsApp. The owner was incredibly kind and even answered messages in the evenings. He also owns the Conad supermarket next door, which is handy when you’re staying in an apartment and need to shop for yourself. The location worked well for getting to the slopes without a car. The bus stop by the Spormaggiore church is only about a 300-meter walk. A shuttle runs to Andalo all morning, starting at 7:07 AM, and one heads back at 4:40 PM. That return is a bit early, though most ski lifts close at 4:30 PM. There’s also an ATM nearby. Inside, the apartment was very clean, including the dishes and glasses, and the first impression was really good. I washed things anyway to be safe, but they hardly needed it. There were pans, sponges, cleaning supplies, salt, and oil. The rooms are generally spacious and comfortable. The bedroom has a roomy closet, enough for the third person’s belongings too. That person slept in the living room beside the sofa, with a TV in front, while the other two used the bedroom. The extra bed was as comfortable as the main bed. The sofa was comfortable as well, and could fit three if needed. The living room also has the kitchen, table, and boiler. The table is just the right size for three. The kitchen had what we needed: glasses, cutlery, a crowbar, kettle, fridge, freezer, and oven. It all worked, including the oven, which I tested. The bathroom has a fairly large, well-designed shower with a non-slip floor. There’s no shampoo shelf, but you can leave it on the floor or balance it on the shower-head base, where it didn’t fall for me. There’s also a washing machine. A couple of things were less convenient. The boiler is indoors, though that wasn’t the main issue. It can make quite loud noises now and then at night, which could disturb the third person sleeping in the living room. I’m not a light sleeper, and the noise didn’t bother me in the bedroom. The TV also acted up sometimes: it froze and the remote stopped working, even though the batteries were fine. Restarting it fixed things, but how it works is still a bit of a mystery. There’s a USB port on the back, so maybe Chromecast or another device could mirror a phone screen, but I couldn’t test that and can’t say for sure with an older TV. There’s no WiFi, and the internet connection isn’t great, though messaging worked fine. With a few small issues, I settled on 4 stars rather than 5, though it could have been worth 4.5. The welcome and price could use some improvement, even though the price was really cheap, around €190.

A lovely little place with a great welcome. I’d recommend it.
