Hotel Italie Et Suisse

The staff were the best part, very charming and helpful. We had a spacious room that wasn’t especially cozy, but the bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent, powerful and hot. Breakfast was good too. It’s incredibly well situated for the ferry terminal, bus routes, and walks around cosy Stress. I’d happily stay again!

What a great family hotel! We had a wonderful two-night stay at Italie Et Suisse. The rooms were super clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for catching a boat to the islands or heading into the center. We’d love to visit again! :)

The rest of the staff were great, but our stay at Hotel Italie et Suisse was badly affected by the desk attendant, Samuel. When we arrived, he seemed put out and barely welcomed us. Later, we found out there was a strict lockdown from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., when nobody could enter or leave. That hadn't been explained when we booked or checked in. We were in town to catch up with friends we hadn't seen in years, and when we raised the concern, Samuel got curt and dismissive. He even told us to find another hotel, which wasn't a realistic option in the middle of the night. The setup seems tied to the old mechanical key system. Guests get one key and have to leave it at the desk whenever they go out. Once the desk is closed and the front door locked, you can't get back into the building or your room until 7 a.m. This is more than just not having a night porter. Other family members checked with nearby hotels the next day and said they didn't have this policy, so it also left us questioning whether it was allowed. In the morning, Samuel privately warned my roommate that we might be blacklisted across Europe. That felt wildly out of proportion and unsettling. We stayed calm and were only concerned. We didn't shout or show him disrespect, but a disgruntled Mr. Samuel could leave you locked out all night if you aren't in bed on time. Other guest reviews mention indifferent service, dated rooms, and poor hospitality, and sadly our visit matched that impression. The location is convenient, and the other staff were lovely, but I can't recommend the hotel if you care about flexibility, friendliness, or basic transparency.

We loved the personal feel of this smaller, traditional hotel, and the staff were polite and happy to help with anything. It sits right on the lakefront, close to everything, and we'd definitely stay again if we return to Stresa. Our room was beautiful, with four balconies and amazing views. It was very clean and had air conditioning. Breakfast was lovely each morning, and we had a wonderful three-night stay.
