The pool area was a real treat. We relaxed by the pool bar and took a dip, which was a lovely way to unwind. It's about a 15-minute walk into the town centre, and the hotel has a chilled-out feel, so I'd highly recommend it. We had a great three-day stay. The welcome was warm, and they showed us to our room when we arrived. Room 26 had a balcony where we could sit in the shade with coffee in the morning, then enjoy a glass of wine in the warm evening sun. Breakfast was great each day, with fresh food and lovely scrambled eggs. Sitting outside made for a nice start to the day.

The outdoor pool and pool bar were welcome extras, and it was good value for money. It's a great family hotel, close enough for a pleasant walk along the lakeside into Stresa, but far enough from the centre to avoid the crowds.

The breakfast terrace is nice, but there weren't many seats. We had to eat inside, where the view was obstructed, and the staff were too busy to offer coffee or a cappuccino. Our room had very little lake view, as the picture shows. The pool was closed when we arrived because, they said, the water needed changing. After a hot day, that was disappointing. Nice hotel in some ways, but I wouldn't recommend it.

We’ve stayed at Hotel La Fontana twice as a family of four and will certainly come back. The ferry for the islands and the town of Stresa are both less than a 10-minute walk away. The staff are also happy to suggest activities and places to eat. There’s plenty of free parking, and the grounds are lovely. With the bar there, you can sit on the lawn with a glass of wine or a cocktail and relax with friends. The pool is gorgeous, breakfast outstanding, and the rooms comfortable. The location is convenient and everyone on staff is so friendly. Hotel La Fontana is the best!

We spent three nights here during our visit to Stresa and would definitely recommend the hotel. It was reasonably priced and well located. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pool area was relaxing, and breakfast was very nice.
