Bay Palace Mazzaro'

We’ve stayed at Hotel Bay Palace three times on our agency’s group trips to Sicily, and we’re already planning another visit next year. Each stay feels like coming home. The owners are wonderful hosts, and Claudia keeps everything running smoothly. Chef Nikolina and her team make food we really enjoy, while the reception and kitchen staff are professional, friendly, and always ready to help. We can’t wait to go back.

The pool area was pleasant, though we didn’t have enough time to use it, and the hotel’s people were friendly. Nicoletta was especially organized and helpful. We enjoyed the tasty breakfasts and dinners, and breakfast had good variety. Still, we wouldn’t give the hotel four stars, even though that’s what its website says. The building feels old and dated, with lots of things needing repair. The bathroom light kept flickering, and there were few power outlets. One of the lifts was almost impossible to use, so we took the stairs. Breakfast started strictly at 7:30am, and they wouldn’t let us in for coffee earlier. There was only one coffee machine and it was very slow. The view from our room and from the breakfast and dining terrace was lovely.

We spent seven nights here and had a good stay. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and Tiziano at the pool bar deserves a special mention. He makes excellent drinks and takes great care of guests. The cable car is about a ten-minute walk away, along a busy road with no dedicated footpath. That was a minor downside, but it didn’t spoil the stay. The hotel was comfortable and welcoming, a good base for exploring the area, and we’d recommend it to anyone visiting Taormina.

Tiziano looks after you at the bar and makes a great drink. We stayed for seven nights and found the hotel great, with friendly staff and a handy location near beaches and restaurants. It’s a steady ten-minute walk along the coast to the cable car, which takes you to the old town. I’d recommend staying here in Taormina.
