The rooftop terrace had a lovely view, and the owner came across as friendly and helpful at first. The central location was another real plus for anyone who enjoys being in town. Beyond that, our stay was mostly frustrating, especially for what it cost. There were only two outlets in the room, both beside the bed. We had to choose between putting the fan right next to us or plugging it in in the bathroom so the air wouldn’t blow over our heads. But then it had to be unplugged whenever we needed the bathroom. An extension cord would have fixed that easily. The bathroom itself had nowhere to hang towels or put toiletries, and its door wouldn’t open all the way. There was also a connecting door to the next room inside our room. It was locked, thankfully, but still unsettling. The heavy iron room door scraped loudly along the tiles and was hard to open. From inside, we had to pull on the key to get it to unlock. My girlfriend nearly tried to climb out the window when she couldn’t open it herself. The key barely went into the lock, which could probably have used a drop of oil. Parking was another headache. We were first quoted 30 euros a night, then, after questioning it, the charge was changed to 50 euros for two nights. The contract between the owner and the lot was supposed to set the nightly price at 20 euros, and booking.com listed that too. If we’d checked earlier, we could have challenged what felt like a deceitful charge sooner. The pricing arrangement seemed to make little sense. The owner also wanted to keep our car keys in case the car needed to be moved in the tight lot. We agreed they could go in a secure lockbox afterward, but that wasn’t followed. With all those problems, the central spot doesn’t make the price feel justified. I can only recommend staying here with serious reservations, and the negatives outweighed the positives for us.
