We stayed for a couple of nights with my husband in the first days of October. The weather was good, and Taormina was busy with tourists. For what we paid, the service and easy access to town made this a good quality-price choice, which was just what we wanted in an expensive place like Taormina. The hotel is at the top of a hill and was easy to access. From the rooftop there's a beautiful town view, and a back door leads conveniently into town. For the beach, you need to walk a few blocks to the cable car, which runs every 15min and currently costs 10 euros for a round trip. Our small bedroom faced an inner courtyard. It had a safe box, mini fridge, and small TV that we never used. The bathroom was quite small too, but had everything necessary, including a hair dryer. Reception is on the third floor, while our room was on the first, close to the back exit. I can't say much about sound insulation, but it was quiet. The reception staff were very kind and helped with our baggage. Parking is available in front of the main entrance for an additional price. There's also a rooftop restaurant with good reviews, though we didn't try it, and a breakfast buffet for an extra cost, which we didn't take either. The hotel can rent you a beach towel for a few euros. Reception also said that a shuttle to a private beach is available on request.

The rear garden was beautiful, and it leads straight to stunning Taormina. We were welcomed warmly and given plenty of information about nearby sights. Then we got bumped up to a premium room, which was a joy: gorgeous, with a comfortable balcony and stunning view. The breakfast buffet was one of the nicest we've had, and the coffee was delicious. The rooftop sky bar has the panoramic views it promises. What a wonderful surprise, this hotel exceeded my expectations. Sublime holiday! Thank you Hotel Continental.

Receptionist Mayra was incredibly welcoming and sweet. After we made the tiring uphill trip to the hotel, she even offered us refreshing lemon water, which set a relaxing tone for our stay. The rooms were excellent, clean, and comfortable. We had a truly wonderful experience, and I highly recommend the hotel for its comfort and outstanding hospitality.

Breakfast has a lovely selection of fresh fruit, and the terrace view of Mount Etna is stunning. The hotel is right in the middle of Taormina, but since the town is so small, that isn't really necessary. I'd suggest staying a 10-minute walk farther out for quieter nights and much better value. Our Superior Room had a garden view and terrace, but the garden is also how people enter and leave the rooftop bar, so there was noise late into the night. At 4 a.m., the street cleaning service collected bottles and made even more noise. The rooms have been modernized, though the windows and blinds are older. The rooms and the overall price-performance ratio were disappointing.

Of all the hotels we stayed in Italy, this was easily the best. We had an ocean-view room, the location was perfect, and breakfast was excellent. Breakfast on the rooftop patio was especially nice. Highly recommend.
