Hotel Caparena

We came to this lovely private beach on the shuttle from Hotel Isabella. It was clean and well maintained, a great place to swim and relax. The only small drawback was the extra €7 per person for a front-row parasol right by the water. That felt a bit much, but we still had a very nice time.

I slept better here than anywhere else in Sicily so far. The room was really comfortable, and from the balcony I could hear the waves and feel the spring breeze. The staff were wonderful, always helpful and available for questions or anything else I needed. I was so happy that I added another night. The spa is worth trying. I booked a massage and facial with Antonella, who was amazing, and afterward I felt like a whole new person. The shuttle to and from Taormina’s main town was convenient, and there’s also a bus stop right at the hotel.

The complimentary minibus to Taormina was very handy, and Salvatore, the expert driver, was friendly. Book a place on it, as it fills up quickly. The train line runs beside the hotel, but it was fast and quiet enough that it hardly disturbed us. We picked the hotel because it was so close to the beach, and it’s stunning, very well kept, and clean. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to help. When my daughter was ill, they kindly let me ask about taking breakfast to our room. There was a wide selection, including gluten-free and dairy-free options. My husband and I also had an aromatherapy massage with Antonella, possibly one of the best I’ve had. The large wellness spa has its own relaxation room, showers, lockers, and other amenities. The rooms are well designed and kept very clean, and my children especially appreciated the clean baths. A fantastic hotel with fantastic staff.

The food was far better than most hotel meals I’ve had, and could even hold its own against restaurant food. The rooms weren’t anything special, but they were perfectly fine, and the staff were nice. There’s also a very nice free bus to Taormina, if I remember correctly. It was a bit expensive for what I earn, but this was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in, maybe the best. I highly recommend it if it fits your budget.
