I Due Grifoni Apartments

The location made getting around easy: the apartment is only a few steps from the main bus stop for the beaches and the stop for Taormina’s parking garage, and just a little farther from the main shopping and dining strip. Our flight was delayed, but the owner/driver still came to pick us up at Catania airport. We got in at night, so I didn’t really take in the views until the next morning. Our two-bedroom apartment was spotless and nicely furnished in a modern style. It had dependable Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a TV, kitchen, efficient electricity, two balconies, and hotel-quality extras like soap, sewing kits, shower caps, and USB outlets. The sofa bed opened easily, so up to six people could stay comfortably. The shared spaces were lovely too. There’s a little library and reading area in the hall, and upstairs an amazing rooftop patio with lounge chairs, ping pong and other games, a children’s play area, a shower, and breathtaking views, especially at sunrise. We also got to see another of the building’s five units, and it was beautiful as well. I’d strongly recommend this building to families or friends traveling together who want comfort and style, plus some privacy and good shared space.

The area around Suite No 4 has plenty close by, including taxis, buses, a bakery, cafe, pizza place, and market. It’s about 100 yards from the Messina Gate and the pedestrian Corso Umberto, with loads of shops and restaurants. We found the traffic noise on the terrace minimal in the evening, when you’re most likely to sit outside. For al fresco breakfast it was more noticeable, but we thought it added to the atmosphere. The suite itself was fabulous, with a great terrace and rooftop solarium overlooking beautiful views. Vincento, the owner, was very helpful and dealt promptly with the few issues we had. We’ll definitely return to Suite No 4.

Right in central Taormina, the apartments are very well located. The rooms are spacious and clean, with either a balcony or terrace, and the bathroom was modern and tidy. The heating worked well in February. The owner and his wife are very friendly.

We spent a week here and could get everywhere easily from this great location. The apartment was very clean, and the owners were kind and lovely. Highly recommended.
