La Petite Maison

Elena is one of the best hosts we've had. When Google Maps got us completely lost, she and her husband came down on their scooter and guided us up the hill. We travel to Italy at least twice a year and have stayed in all 20 regions, many more than once, and this was easily one of the best places we've found. The room was incredibly comfortable, with something lovely to look at everywhere. The espresso machine in the fully equipped kitchen was marvelous too. A short walk down a few stairs takes you to the main centro, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars. We only had two days here, which felt too short. Next time we're in Sicily, we might stay for a week.

This was the worst accommodation we stayed in during our trip to Sicily, and it spoiled our time in Taormina. It was dirty and overpriced. The owners advertised the top-floor "apartment" as having two bedrooms, but the second one was tiny, around 2-3 square meters maximum, with only enough room for a single bed and no space to move around. It was freezing, too, with no heat available. The owners seemed to show goodwill in an obvious effort to avoid bad reviews, but after all my years of travelling, this was one of my worst experiences. I felt I had to share it.

The location was very good, and Elena was friendly and helpful. The towels were new and soft, too!
