Mendolia Beach Hotel

This hotel is run-down and dysfunctional, and far too expensive for what it offers. The hotel and our room were very old. The shower barely worked: the temperature swung between scalding and freezing, the pressure kept going up and down, and the space was so tiny we kept hitting the walls. Bits chipped off the shower head whenever we touched it. The metal entrance door also got hot in the late October sun and radiated heat into the apartment. When we reported the shower, staff said they’d fix it, but the same problem remained the next day, so we cut our stay short by one night. We raised it again the following morning, and staff acted as if it had been fixed when it clearly hadn’t. After we insisted, they offered another room, but by then we’d had enough and left. This was a situation where customer service should have mattered, but in our case there was none.

Breakfast was really good, and the restaurant served amazing food. The hotel is right across from the beach and has a breathtaking view. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the staff made the place feel so welcoming with their friendliness. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back soon!

The service was incredibly friendly, and our clean room had a breathtaking view. It’s right by the beach and a few restaurants. We had such a great experience and can’t wait to stay here again.

The rooms are simple, but have everything you need, with a stunning view over Isola Bella. You’re one minute from the beach and two minutes from the funicular up to Taormina. Excellent location.
