Villaggio Placido

Cottage 1 felt clean and had a lovely, authentic Italian style, with nice outdoor seating areas. We stayed five nights and had an amazing time. The location was perfect, just a two-minute walk down a private path to beautiful mazzaro beach, and three minutes from the cable car station for a direct ride to Taormina town. I’d absolutely recommend it.

The villas were spacious and spotless, with an authentic Italian feel, a lovely bedroom view, and two outdoor dining areas. The location worked perfectly for us, around five minutes on foot to the beach and close to the cable car. The owners were friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived, and showed us where to park. It was great to have parking included. We were so happy with our choice to stay at Villaggio Placido, and are already planning to return. Highly recommend!

The location at Villaggio Placido was perfect. There’s a private path down to La Pigna beach in two minutes, and we thought it was the nicest beach in Taormina. It was quieter than isola Bella, the water was clearer, and sun loungers cost €20 less. The Cable car is only a three-minute walk away, and we took it back down from Taormina centre around midnight each evening. It runs until 1.30am. We spent seven nights in the One Bed cottage Rosa, one of the peaceful, beautifully terraced cottages overlooking the sea. It was comfortable, gorgeously rustic-Italian, and had everything we needed. Some of our best moments were relaxing on the terrace with a glass of vino after the beach. The owners were lovely and made the stay feel authentically Sicilian. They were accommodating, too, holding our luggage all day before our evening airport pickup. Thank you, Mailna and family, for your hospitality and for sharing your perfect slice of Sicily. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay, and will be back next year with our extended family.

The houses are nicely furnished, all on one level, and seem to have everything thought through. It’s quiet, there’s free parking, and the market is right across from the property. The beach is a two-minute walk away. If you’re staying longer, it’s a good idea to buy an umbrella, since there’s no space on the beaches in the bay and the fee is 20 euros per person. Be sure to protect yourself from mosquitoes.
