Il Fiore all'Occhiello

It seemed like a great place at first, with a warm welcome and reasonable cleanliness. Then I noticed missing knives, just two stemmed glasses, nearly broken towel rails in the bathroom that couldn't be used, a fridge that barely cooled, and an unmade bed in the loft. I didn't want to make a fuss, so I asked for at least two plates and a knife to cut fruit, after being told cooking wasn't allowed unless there was some unspecified extra charge. After I got back to Milan, they sent me a truly nasty, defamatory message, blaming me for the unmade bed and for a doormat leaning against the front door. It had supposedly transferred its crescent-shaped “design” onto the bottom of the door. I don't manage the cleaning staff, and I had no reason to put a doormat on the door. I wasn't the one who cleaned the floors in the building. I've tried several times to talk to the owner, but he won't answer my calls or messages. I feel offended and defamed, and I'll defend my interests in the appropriate courts.
