Casa Cuccuddau

The location is right in town, about 200 meters from the main square, with restaurants, pizzerias, bakeries, rotisserie shops, and supermarkets close by. There's indoor parking, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a nice garden, and a terrace where you can catch the breeze and have something to eat. The rooms were lovely and absolutely clean. We'd planned five nights in summer 2016, but stayed three more, which says plenty. Ovidio and Teresa welcomed us like guests at first, then almost like family. We chatted with them each day before heading out to explore. The standard breakfast is simple, with snacks and packaged jams. But Teresa also put out a homemade dessert every day, her own jams, and water drawn from the mountains on their estate. I didn't care for the savory breakfast, though it's available if requested. She has her own chickens too, and I can only imagine how good their scrambled eggs must be.

By chance, we ended up staying with Mrs. Teresa, and it was such a lovely surprise. The room was roomy and welcoming, with the space we needed for our large luggage. Breakfast had plenty of variety, including traditional Sardinian cakes and pastries and her delicious homemade jams. What stayed with us most was how warmly we were received, how attentive and helpful everyone was, and the calm time we spent together, like old family friends. Her husband even washed our car, a very welcome surprise. And thank you to Federica for the enjoyable conversations! Everything was as agreed, and we knew the private bathroom was outside the room. The welcome was warm, the place clean, and the hostess had thoughtfully prepared breakfast. Everyone was helpful, and the price was fair. Thanks to Teresa and Ovidio. Giarola and Marostica.

The rooms are pleasant, but I didn't think the stay was good value. They're in the attic and get very hot, so for privacy and cooler air you have to ask for air conditioning at an extra charge. Given the B&B price, I feel that could have been included. Breakfast was bread, with no butter, and family-sized boxes of the owner's homemade jams and marmalades that had already been opened. The B&B is in a renovated old-house neighborhood, with buildings close together, narrow streets, and windows looking straight toward other windows.
