Hotel Corona

We found Hotel Corona clean and cozy, with a well-kept room that made our visit comfortable. Its spot is handy, a short walk from the Bernina Express station and close to cafes and restaurants. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful with local tips. Breakfast was simple, fresh, and satisfying. A good base for the scenic train ride or exploring the area.

Hotel Corona was comfortable for our one-night stay, with polite staff and a decent breakfast. Our booking had been at Hotel Bernina through Booking.com, but a washroom maintenance issue led them to move us to Corona just one day before arrival. They handled the change courteously, and the extra couple of minutes’ walk to the station was no real problem. We did have to pick up the invoice from Hotel Bernina, a minor inconvenience. It wasn’t clear whether the last-minute switch should have come with a lower rate, which might be worth considering for guests in the same situation. Hotel Bernina also seemed to have a slightly better location. From the outside, its rooms might be nicer too, though that’s only my assumption. I’ve read comments that the reception staff don’t speak much English. That was true, but I don’t think guests should expect them to. Communication took a little effort, as can happen when traveling, and they were polite and helpful throughout.

Being close to the train station was the only good thing about this place. The receptionist was polite, but spoke very little English, so communicating was difficult. The cleaning lady came while we were out, which was fine, but she broke our comb and opened some of our cosmetics, including a perfume. That shouldn’t happen, and there was zero compensation for the damage. The rooms are very old and don’t look like the photos. The bed was uncomfortable, to say the least.

The bathroom was covered in mold, and after showering I felt dirtier than before. Cleanliness was far below an acceptable level. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you have no other option.
