The room’s one nice feature was a partial ocean view. It was very small, with few comforts, no USB outlets, and three-prong sockets that didn’t fit our England or France adapters. The bathroom and shower were cramped. At check-in, the woman just processed us and offered no help, even when we asked about nearby food or things to do. She only stared at us. Breakfast wasn’t good either, the bread wasn’t fresh and the other food didn’t look appetizing. The property has potential because it’s large and right on the coast, with plenty of amenities, including a 200-meter lap pool. We visited at the end of September, in the off-season, and the beach and pool were still staffed and open. Getting here from Florence, we were surprised by all the industry and had to drive through the docks and warehouses to reach Livorno or Tirrenia. This particular property is on the beach in Tirrenia. Nearby restaurants are a quick walk, and Pisa is a short drive. Still, I’d never stay here again or return to this area.

The service is still professional, 37 years after I first came here with the US Army in Camp Darby. I returned to revisit Tirrenia, and Ivan Borteli, Gabriele, Mateo, and Beatriz at the restaurant really stood out. They were attentive, smart, and knew how to give superb customer service. Awesome hospitality, they make the difference. We’ll be back to see them again. Thank you for making us feel part of the Italian family!

Our stay was pretty good, and the hotel even upgraded our room when we arrived. The pool area is lovely and huge, with lots of sunbeds. Breakfast was a bit simple, though I guess that may be standard at most hotels in Italy. The frustrating part came on departure day. We asked for a late checkout and got just 30 extra minutes, until 11:00. Our flight wasn’t until 5 PM, so we asked if we could stay by the pool until it was time to leave. Staff said no, even when we offered to pay. That seemed strange with such a large pool area and plenty of spare beds. I think they could put out more loungers too.

The location and service were good, but the bathroom had a water leak during my stay. When I mentioned it at reception, their reaction made it seem like this was normal for them. I also couldn’t adjust the AC in my room.

The views are beautiful, and you’re right by the water. Breakfast was free each day, generous in size, and amazing. There’s also a pretty useful gym. The TV in the room was dated, but otherwise it was a great hotel, with great staff and a great price.
