Agriturismo Casale dei Frontini

The best part was sitting and talking with Silvana, Papa Michele and Michele, mixing English with our very basic Italian. They’re a warm family and such lovely hosts. We also loved seeing the cattle in the barn and walking through the green, rolling fields of the working farm. Our family had a memorable stay, with clean, comfortable rooms, delicious food, and lovely scenery. It was one of the highlights of our whole trip to Italy. I hope we’ll be back.

The setting is beautiful and the homemade food is nice, but that didn’t make up for how rude the people were. The person you’re paying keeps commenting on your tastes and lecturing you about what to eat and when. It was a terrible experience. The owners need to learn how to treat a client, or find another line of work.

9/17-20/2018. Silvania, Corrado, and Micheala made us feel very welcome, and dinner was fantastic every night. Our room was nice too. The farmhouse sits in beautiful countryside with great views, and Todi, which is a must-see, is very close. I’m glad we weren’t there in the middle of summer, though, since there’s no air conditioning. Thanks so much for everything!

There were lovely Italian and Dutch guests while we were there, and the farmhouse is well placed for trips to Todi, Deruta, Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, and Orvieto. The location itself is wonderfully quiet, with spectacular views across the valley to Todi. We had a very happy stay at Casale dei Frontini, with a delightful, welcoming family and all the good things about agriturismo. Silvana cooked classic Umbrian farmhouse meals, generous and genuine, with different dishes every night. The red and white house wines were faultless: the white was light and fresh, while the red had deep fruit and the taste of the land it came from. Michele and Gabriele keep the historic Umbrian house in good order, Corrado clearly cares for the garden, and charming Marella is always working at full speed. Wonderful!
