Il Ghiottone Umbro

The location is green and quiet, but only a short walk from the center of Todi. We left rested and well fed. Lisbeth and Thomas made us feel at home from the beginning, with their generous, down-to-earth way of hosting. The restored house is simple, tasteful and comfortable, blending the Umbrian countryside with clean Scandinavian design. Breakfast was a daily treat, fresh and different every time, with excellent coffee in handmade cups. We also took two cooking classes that were fun, practical and inspiring. We learned a lot and can’t wait to try the dishes at home. Lisbeth and Thomas shared so much local knowledge, from tips for exploring Umbria to introductions to small producers and hidden places we’d never have found on our own. If there were six stars, they’d be the first to get them.

The breakfast was to die for, and Lisbeth and Thomas are wonderful hosts and chefs. The rooms and accommodations were beyond exceptional. It was so helpful to ask locals for information, and their restaurant and driver recommendations for Rome were great. Just the sweetest stay!

Lisbeth and Thomas are warm, knowledgeable and kind, and their influence shows all over Il Ghiottone. Breakfast was unreal every day, and it gave us a chance to connect with Liz and Tom and other guests if we wanted to. Their recommendations were amazing, too. One of them led to our favourite experience of the trip. I don’t usually write reviews, but it felt right to share how much we enjoyed our time here. Part of me wants to keep it to myself, but others deserve to experience it. I’ll be back as soon as I can!

The views were gorgeous, and we appreciated the tea in our room and the advice for our day trips. Our room was charming and immaculate, and Il Ghiottone Umbro is perfectly placed for exploring Umbria. Thomas and Lisbeth were gracious hosts. They made us a delicious dinner one night as a special treat, and served an amazing made-from-scratch breakfast every morning. A highlight of our trip. The stay felt magical!
